SIMPLY SILK

1/12th Scale Silk Miniatures For The Discerning Dolls House Collector

I  love making swags and tails, the possibilities are endless.

The standard size is approx 5 inches by 7.75 inches .I source

my trimmings from all over the world,  but its very difficult to

get the braids narrow enough. I love using diamante and

have a huge collection, I just can't stop buying them. Most

of my creations are very sparkly and OTT, its no good asking

me to make a pair of cottage chinz curtains, very boring and

there are so many already out there.

The usual construction is a handmade box pelmet reinforced

with balsa wood for stability. They all have sticky velcro

attached to the backs.  You just peel off the backing and they

 are up in seconds.

Very rarely will they be other than pure dupioni silk,  I just

love it and again can't resist buying far more than I will ever

need in my lifetime.

ALL OF THESE EXAMPLES HAVE NOW BEEN SOLD.

I CAN MAKE SIMILAR STYLES TO ORDER IN ANY SIZE BUT THE TRIMS WILL DIFFER FROM THOSE ILLUSTRATED.

JUST EMAIL ME AND I WILL ADVISE ON WHAT SILKS AND TRIMS ARE

STILL AVAILABLE.

A recent addition is the hand painted gold wooden cornice.

It has taken me ages to find something suitable, as woodwork

is definitely not for me. So far the only ones I have found

are 4.75 inches wide, still searching!!

Its very difficult to find arched curtains, especially

swags and tails, I can't say I have seen very many

around. The backs of these are covered in silk and

trimmed so they look just as nice from the outside

of your house. The crystal, pearl and diamante fan

is technically a bit too large for 1/12th scale but I love

them to pieces.

These are lovely, the centrepiece is diamante with a picture of

a victorian  girl, I will definitely make more of these if I can get

the diamante, I think this was an  old ear-ring which I pulled to pieces.

My friends guard all of their jewellery in case I might take a fancy to it.
